Creating your sales processes

Your marketing activity helps you build relationships with potential customers and tells people about what you do.  Marketing should generate you leads and then it is your sales process or sales funnel that will turn them into paying customers.
 
So, your marketing has generated some potential leads for you, you should then follow this up with a telephone call to organise a meeting for you to discuss your products/services further, or maybe as part of your marketing you have got their permission for you to put them on to your email list, you can then use a series of follow up emails to get clients to buy your products or sign up for your services.
 
If a client says ‘No’ it often doesn't mean no forever it just means no at the moment, this is where an effective CRM system (Customer Relationship Management - which I talk about in the next section) can help you track your leads so that you can follow up accordingly and in a timely fashion.
 
Some tools that are useful when trying to turn a lead into a paying customer are:
  • Sales funnels
  • Price lists
  • Sales scripts
